The Amistad Case

On March 9, 1841, the United States Supreme Court decided the Amistad case. The Court ordered the release of kidnapped African men brought to this country, by way of Cuba, to be sold as slaves. This is the Old Supreme Court Chamber. It’s located in the Capitol. The United States Supreme Court met here between 1810-1860.
