On This Date in Legal History

On this date in 1993 President Clinton signed into law the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act. The law provided for a five-day waiting period before transferring ownership of a handgun to an unlicensed individual. It also created a national criminal background check system to insure guns weren’t acquired by unqualified individuals.
